There is an effort underway to establish a full grocery that is a cooperative store in Chester.
This great news for investors.
Anytime a community begins to improve the services available to it's residents, this bodes well for the community as a whole, including real estate values in the area.
This particular effort will be doubly important, as it is a home-grown, community-driven effort, as opposed to an external group trying to force a change.
As the community takes pride in itself, as is evidenced in this type of effort, changes will be put in motion that will improve many aspects of life in the City, which in turn will positively impact property values.
The Co-op gets funding from members of the community, as well as other interested investors, and requires work from members to keep it fully opperational. Members also meet monthly to manage the business side of the operation. To succeed, as with any co-op, it would also require that members shop there.
The cost to join is $50 ($75 to be considered a "Founding Member") and an initial $200 capital investment, which is refundable when a member leaves the Co-Op. Visit their website at www.chestercoop.com.
For more information, please print out and read the membership brochure, available by clicking here.
If you have any questions, you are asked to contact Tina Johnson at 610-864-9929 or email info@chestercoop.com
If you would like to support the Co-op as an individual, corporation, or organization without becoming a member, please consider joining the Chester's Community Grocery Co-op Partnership Program
